Absolutely and utterly phenomenal book about Chicago! The author tells the story about Chicago and the people who shaped it. Using the ubiquitous brown honorary signs that proliferate throughout Chicago as background, the author tells the story of various Chicagoans who have been honored by the City of Chicago. I believe that the author, actually does a great job of keeping her objectivity while she delves into the interesting details on each individuals past and contributions to the great City of Chicago. This is a great easy read and especially wonderful reading when you are walking around downtown Chicago and come across the brown street signs. When I am walking around downtown and come across a brown honorary sign, I simply look up the name of the individual in Honorary Chicago and am immediately transported to a different time in Chicago and a fascinating world.Product details

Honorary Chicago Guidebook Guide to Chicago Honorary Streets and Commemorations Linda Zabors 9781505294446 Books Reviews
Based on the positive reviews, I bought this book to keep in my guest bedroom for out of town guests. I know a lot more Chicago history now, and am a better tour guide to friends who visit! Linda tells stories not heard before.
Always wondered who these people are behind Chicago's famous brown street signs. Great gift for anyone that wants to learn more about their hometown of Chicago.
I originally ordered this book from Createspace. Having lived in Chicago all my life, I've seen the signs many times and often wondered about the stories behind the names. I found this book informative and truly entertaining!
